Using Out-of-Network Insurance Benefits

NPB Psychotherapy is an out-of-network provider. Many insurance plans include out-of-network mental health benefits that allow you to be reimbursed for a portion of the session fee after you meet your deductible.

Here is how the process works:

  1. Call your insurance provider and ask about your out-of-network mental health benefits, your deductible, and your reimbursement rate for outpatient psychotherapy (CPT code 90837).
  2. Receive a superbill — a superbill (an itemized receipt with all the billing codes your insurer requires) will be provided.
  3. Submit your claim — NPB Psychotherapy will submit your claim to your insurance on your behalf for you to receive reimbursement. If you prefer, you may submit the superbill directly to your insurance for reimbursement. Most insurers accept uploads on the member online portal.
